Sennheiser PXC 250 Headphones Are Great at Canceling Noise. My Review.
Sennheiser PXC 250 Head Phones Review
At first glance I thought the Sennheiser PXC 250 headphones would not give me the quality sound I was accustomed to with Boise headphones, but I was completely mistaken. The compact supra-aural PXC 250 headphones cancel external noise, are lightweight and the sound quality is excellent.
The secret to Sennheiser’s success is the noise cancelling circuitry in the PXC 250, which makes a huge difference traveling, or when I’m surrounded with noisy patrons in a crowded airport. The PXC 250 headphones are foldable; the ear cups turn 90 degrees and fold and lock for storage in my belt pouch. When I open the headphones they lock in position. I use them to watch DVD’s on planes or to listen to music on my MP3 player. Comfort is always an issue with headphones and the PXC 250 is a heavyweight in that category. I had them on for 10 hours straight on a recent trip to the Orient and almost forgot I was wearing them.
The features speak for themselves. The PXC 250 headphones are made using Sennheiser’s Duofol diaphragms with spiral embossing, which provides high resolution sound and there is a bass tube that delivers a powerful bass quality. The switchable NoiseGard feature reduces frequencies below 1000 Hz by as much as 15 dB, which is why the PXC 250 is such a great traveling companion. Weighing in at only 65 grams (2.3.oz.) the PXC 250 operates on 2 AAA batteries so the NoiseGard feature is activated when the headphones are in use. The PXC 250 has a cable length of 1.8 m or 5.9 ft. and will plug into any 3.5 mm stereo jack plug. The on-the-ear coupling has only 0.1 harmonic distortion. There may be more expensive headphones on the market, but dollar for dollar the PXC 250 is a real value.
